Hello everyone & especially to our new members. We hope training is going well & you are having FUN with your dogs.

As we are sure you all know, microchipping became compulsory on 6th April and compliance now forms part of all Good Citizen tests. The Club has invested in a scanner, so you can all have a go at finding your dog’s chip!

Well done to everyone who took part in our testing day in March. Congratulations go to:- BRONZE LEVEL – Phoebe & Poppy, Sandra & Milo, Julie & Suzie, Debbie & Leo, Tom & Luna, Heather & Meika, Toni & Jager, Alison & Flo. SILVER LEVEL – Imogen & Tinker, Annette & Dotty, Paula & Penny, Robyn & Lupin. GOLD LEVEL – Margaret & Holly, Jess & Angus. WELL DONE!!! Keep practising as we will have another testing date at the Club during the summer.

Kaye has accepted an invitation to examine at Bronze Level at Dumbleton Dog Show on 28th August. More details will be available nearer the time.

This is a bit of an experiment, but Kaye will be running an ‘improver’s ‘class on Mondays at 2.00pm on the field behind the hall. Be warned – this is an outdoor class, so come prepared! All levels are welcome as each dog /handler will choose exercises they want to work on. Initially this will be ‘pay as you go’ £5.00 per handler, but please let Kaye know in advance if you want to come. 07747 798092 or

Please note we are closed Monday 2nd May – Friday 6th May and also Monday 30th & Tuesday 31st May. Sorry! Also, we have been informed that the hall is not available the evening of Friday 29th April. However, Kaye has a ‘Plan B’ and the classes will meet at the usual times at the car park by Evesham Rowing Club, for training & socialisation. Kaye will give further details to those affected.

Most of our classes are fully booked, but there are limited spaces available on Mondays at 8.30pm & Tuesdays at 8.30pm. Both of these are ‘Gold & beyond’ classes. If you are working at this level & want to move into either of these classes, please contact either Kaye or Anne.

Tadleigh is the Canine Partners dog we bought from Club fundraising & continue to support. We are delighted to report that he has recently passed his assessment & is waiting to be placed with a partner.

Every year we hold a show a charity fundraiser. This year we are continuing to raise money for the training of our Canine Partners dog, Tadleigh. The show is a great opportunity for socialising (humans & canines!) We will also have a fun agility competition, kindly run by Annette Rose. Schedules will be available nearer the time.

Members who train in Kaye’s Gold classes have been working on a heelwork demonstration routine (with varying degrees of success!!!) If you would like to show off your skills at the show, please let Kaye know & she will arrange some extra practice sessions. Please remember, perfection is not the aim! It would just be lovely to see handlers of all ages having fun with dogs of all shapes & sizes. Go on… you know you want to!!!

Yes, the Club has its own Facebook page –just search Evesham Dog Training. Please check it out & feel free to add pictures or stories about your dogs.

As some of you know, Kaye is involved in KC Rally. This is the fastest growing dog sport in the UK, mainly because it’s great fun & open to all breeds & crossbreeds. Kaye has been incorporating rally signs into some of her classes and some of you have expressed an interest in learning more. Kaye is currently looking for a venue to run a rally class, watch this space…

How many times do we hear ‘they do it at home!’ There’s a very good reason for that. When working with your dog, the difficulty of the exercise usually depends on 3 variants: duration, distance & distraction. In your class there are lots of distractions! Try to practice in as many different locations as possible – spend a few minutes during your normal walk, it really will make a big difference to proofing your training in all situations.

Please take time to let us know if you are unable to attend your class, whatever the reason. This can be by phone, text or email to your trainer or Anne. To be fair to those on waiting lists, we will reallocate your place if you fail to notify us for 3 consecutive weeks, even if you have credits. This is part of our terms & conditions.

And finally…

Please make training fun for you & your dog. Set your dog up for success & you will have a great relationship. If you have any problems please speak to your trainer, or for personal sessions please contact Kaye on 07747 798092.
