Hello everyone, especially our new members. Our classes are very busy – mostly through word of mouth so thanks for your support! We have various events planned for the next few months, please get involved & get the most from the Club.
Thank you to all who supported our annual Funday. Once again we were blessed with good weather & great fun was had by all who took part in the ‘have a go’ agility & rally, temptation alley & fastest recall. Congratulations to all the winners & particularly to the winners of the photo competition which many of you took part in. The Club’s handsomest dog is Milo (for the second year running), prettiest bitch is Phoebe, cutest puppy is Gus & best friends are Riley & Murphy. Most importantly we raised £250 for the continued support of our Canine Partners puppy, Tadleigh. THANK YOU!
TRAINING IN THE PARK SUNDAY 1ST NOVEMBER
Kaye will be holding another one of her popular ‘real life’ training sessions on Sunday 1st November at 10.30am. This is the ideal opportunity to practice your recall skills amongst the distractions of other dogs & people in a public place and will also include town centre socialisation. Participants should meet at Crown Meadows car park (by the rowing club). Spaces are limited and MUST be booked & paid for in advance. £2.50 per dog. Minimum age 20 weeks please.
PAMPER DAY TUESDAY 3rd NOVEMBER
Don’t get too excited – it’s just for dogs! On Tuesday 3rd November Bettina from Evesham Quality Dog Grooming will be visiting our classes & everyone will have the opportunity to chat with her and for your dogs to have a tidy up, nail trim, ear clean or whatever. This is also an invaluable socialising opportunity for your pups. Please take advantage & pop along even if this is not your regular day. Bettina is an experienced groomer & Kennel Club breed specialist judge. Have a look at her website www.quality-dog-grooming.co.uk
FRIDAY 13th NOVEMBER
Nothing to do with superstitions, but no classes on this date as Kaye is away on a residential course with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers. Sorry, Friday folk! Watch out when she comes back, bursting with new ideas!!
GOOD CITIZEN TESTING SUNDAY 29th NOVEMBER
These Kennel Club tests are a great way of recognising your achievements with your dog. We will be testing at all levels on Sunday 29th November starting with Bronze at 2pm. Tests cost £4.50 payable on the day. Please add yourself to the booking sheet on the desk or speak to your trainer if you are interested.
QUIZ NIGHT SATURDAY 5th DECEMBER
This event is strictly for humans! A fun night with quiz master Anne Martin, whilst fund raising for Canine Partners. Bring your own team of up to 6 people, or team up with others on the night. Tickets must be bought in advance and are £6.00 for adults, £3.00 for under 16s to include a buffet supper, soft drinks and rosettes for the winners. You are welcome to bring your own alcohol.
RALLY OBEDIENCE WORKSHOP
We haven’t forgotten! Kaye is trying to secure the services of top judge & rally instructor, Rachel Bradley. Competitions, judging, a new puppy & a house move are making it difficult for Rachel to commit to a date, but we will get there… and it will be worth the wait!
Members are already asking, so here goes! The final classes of the year will be the doggy Christmas Parties. For Friday classes this will be 11th December, 14th for Mondays & 15th Tuesdays. We will reopen on Monday 4th January 2016.
BRING AND BUY TABLE
Don’t forget our table system of recycling any unwanted doggy items. Please bring along anything you want to sell & don’t forget to check out what’s for sale each week.
DOG TRAINING SECRETS!
Most dogs think ‘what’s in it for me?!’ Training must be fun & rewarding for your dog. Please make sure you bring appropriate rewards for your dog. Dry crunchy biscuits are not nearly as appealing as a tiny pieces of smelly sausage or cheese, which leave your dog wanting more! Some dogs love a favourite toy. Find out what really motivates your dog & don’t be afraid to use it! Here’s a thought for you …
‘It’s not about training your dog to do something, it’s about training him/her to WANT to do it’. Think about it, there is a difference!
Don’t forget that Kaye is available for personal sessions. This can be to help or reinforce something you are doing in your class – loose lead walking, recall etc or teaching your dog a new skill such as tracking or searching. Please contact Kaye direct on 07747 798092 or firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
We so hope you are enjoying your training & having fun with your dog. They are amazing creatures & capable of so much – including training us if we’re not careful! Please speak to any of the trainers, or Anne if you are having any problems. We will always do our best to help.
